There are green areas along the entire length of the promenade with fountains, play areas for children and a vast array of trees, shrubs and flowers for the nature lovers.
The promenade is nice and flat, good for cycling as well as walking, and there are special bicycle lanes.
There are numerous watering holes, chiringuitos, along the length of the promenade and sardines cooking on barbecues, often in specially adapted boats, are a common sight.
As you wander along the promenade, you will even find that there are quite a few wild parakeets nesting in some of the palm trees at the edge of the beach and they can also often be seen sitting in the trees in the green areas.
Stop for a drink or a bite at Chiringuito Estrella and you can sit and watch the birds flitting about in the trees while you sup.
Do remember, though, that these are wild parakeets and are quite adept at fending for themselves as far as food is concerned.
Always fun to watch, though.
